There's a new addition to the household...

School...

So...it's been a while since I've written. Obviously. I just haven't had much of a compulsion or desire to write, mainly because nothing very important has happened. I just finished working 7 days in a row at the duty free shop, and I never want to do it again. It sucked.

Anyway, classes have started today. I'm listening to my French prof take roll call and saying all our names in french. For some reason my name sounds really cool when it's spoken with a french accent. Hopefully I'll enjoy the class.

Randomness

I have the hiccups. It's 1:17 in the morning. Everyone is in bed but myself, only two of my three sisters are not here. They get to be up at Keats. This past week it was me, my parents and my brother. Hayley was at camp. It was nice, but weird.

Haven't posted in a while; haven't really had the urge or the need. My cousin Ruth got married on Saturday and I was talking to one of my other cousins (whom I never see) about wanting to become a book editor. We got to discussing ways of gaining experience in editing (ie: volunteering for online journals and other publications, as well as asking the UCFV paper if they want any help editing pieces) and I came up with the idea of tapping into the very large ESL community and offering my editing services that way as well, editing their papers for a reasonable fee, as well as anyone else who wants to avail themselves of my services. I added Jen (my cousin) to my facebook friends list because she knows someone who has a lot of connections in the Canadian University Press, so Jen is going to ask her contact if she knows of anything going on that might require editing services. Paid or not, experience is experience, and I'll take what I can get.

Long time no update...

Peanut!
So it's been a while since I've felt the inclination to post anything, even though good and fun things are happening in my life rather frequently, lately. Go figure. I've been spending time with [info]nykad on a fairly regular basis, as difficult as that is at the moment, seeing as Greyhound decided to go on strike for the Victoria Day holiday. They are no longer on strike, but service is kind of slow in resuming, which is rather annoying. Nonetheless, we managed to work things out for the May long weekend and I spent a few days at his place.

I had hoped to spend this past weekend with him (we wanted to go see Pirates when it came out) but I started my new job and it was too late to make other plans once I'd been given my hours for the next couple of weeks. So I'm hoping to be able to make plans with him for this weekend coming up instead.

Yes, I've finally found myself a job. I'm working at the Huntington Duty Free Shop at the border crossing down by Costco here in Abbotsford. I'm a cashier. :) So far it's a pretty laid back position, with a really laid back boss and fairly decent pay. A few more shifts and I'll be pretty much a pro at it, so long as nothing major pops up.

That's pretty much it at the moment - oh, also: I've joined facebook, and have connected with some people I used to go to highschool with, which is pretty neat.

Your Brain is Purple

Of all the brain types, yours is the most idealistic.
You tend to think wild, amazing thoughts. Your dreams and fantasies are intense.
Your thoughts are creative, inventive, and without boundaries.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking of fictional people and places - or a very different life for yourself.

Weekend Update

This weekend was the best birthday weekend I've had in a long while. On Saturday morning I took the Greyhound into Langley and then took a cab to [info]nykad 's house, where I saw him again and met his dad for the first time. Almost as soon as I got there I opened the present he got me: some dark chocolate (mmmm...dark chocolate...) and a Foamy the Squirrel hoodie that I'd told him I'd wanted :D Yay! Unfortunately, the hoodie didn't arrive in time for this weekend, but just knowing that it's on it's way makes me happy :) Yay for awesome presents!

We sat around for a while and watched the extended version of LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring together. A little while later I met his mom, who is also super nice, and she sat and watched some of LOTR with us over some yummy pannini sandwiches with ham and swiss cheese in them. Almost right after we finished watching the movie, a couple of Mike's friends came with the express purpose of meeting me. Charlie and Chalamar are a really nice couple, and they brought me a birthday cake, which I thought was especially sweet of them, seeing as they'd never met me before. They came out to dinner with us, and they were going to come see Spiderman 3 with us as well (which was totally awesome, by the way -- GO SEE IT!) but we had to go to the 10pm showing because the others were sold out, so they decided to go home instead.

This morning we slept late and had a leisurely brunch of blueberry pancakes, bacon and sausage, cut up strawberries, orange juice and coffee. It was delicious. I can't wait to do it again.

EDIT: Also, in my excitement about my weekend, I neglected to mention the fact that I have a job interview tomorrow! Yay! It's to work as a cashier at the duty free shop at the border crossing here in Abbotsford. Will fill you in about it tomorrow after my interview.

Yay!

As promised, here is a pic of [info]nykad and I yesterday after seeing Next

Yay for second date!

me at keats
Today I went out with [info]nykad for the second time. We met at the coffee shop behind my house, and my mom and my sister Hayley came with me to meet him. Mike and I went to the mall for lunch, and then went to see Next, which was a really interesting movie. After that we went for coffee and then went back to the theatre to see Blades of Glory, which was absolutely hilarious.

I had an awesome time today, and I can't wait until next weekend; it's my birthday on Friday, and he's taking me out next Saturday for that. I'll probably take the bus into Langley and then his mom will pick me up and take me to their house for the day before we go to see a movie that evening. I can hardly wait!

Oh--also, there will be at least one picture of he and I on the way!

Weeee!

dream, blue rose
So I took the Greyhound in to Langley today and met up with [info]nykad today, and it can be summed up in a single word. That word is: FANTABULOUS! Exclaimation point and all. We walked around Willowbrook mall for a bit and bought CDs and went to Toys R Us for a nerdy, geeky good time. We ended with lunch at Red Robins, which was good, only I felt kinda guilty not being able to eat it all cuz of the Macho Nachos we had as an appetizer, and my poor bacon cheeseburger, as yummy as it was, was only half eaten.

All in all, it was a great day, and I plan on doing it again in the VERY near future. :D
